About Al Ain

Al Ain means 'the spring' or 'the eye' in Arabic. The name comes from the abundance of water sources in the area.

The region of Al Ain is also home to a city of the same name—known as the Oasis City of the UAE. It's famous for its lush oases, rich history and cultural landmarks. It's a UNESCO World Heritage Site, home to ancient archaeological sites, the Al Ain Oasis, and iconic attractions like Jebel Hafit and the Al Ain Zoo. Al Ain also celebrates Emirati heritage through its forts, museums, and traditional markets.

Al Ain is part of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. Located about 150 kilometres from Abu Dhabi city, it is one of the UAE's oldest and most culturally significant regions.
